Deep tissue massage
A deep tissue massage is a quite intense massage technique which is used to release tension in the deeper lying muscles. It has its focus on muscles that lie far below the surface of the skin. Deep tissue massage can access the muscles on the deeper layers in the body that are usually not easy to treat. This massage can help release pain and tension in muscles in, for instance, in the back where other massage techniques can’t seem to help treat the muscle aches.
Deep tissue massage uses slow strokes and direct pressure to treat the deeper lying muscles. The movements go across the grain of the muscles in order to get to the core of the muscle ache. The masseuses using this massage technique will use their fingers, thumbs and sometimes elbows to apply pressure to the muscles and help them relax and treat the muscle aches.
